you've got to be kidding me!... what a great result... and to think i've been tossing my old film in the trash... well... not going to do that anymore...

do you develop the negatives yourself?... and, if so, how do you determine the proper development time?... and do you, as i suspect, agitate less than you would normally?...

yes, you've got to KEEP THE OLD FILM! you can also give it to me if you don't want to be bothered! LOL kidding :)

i don't develop my own--i have done it, but i really don't know what i'm doing, i'm just screwing around. i played in the darkroom at my work recently (that's why i had those outrageous positives) but i don't have the setup. i am totally self-taught with everything so i usually don't trust myself to develop. however--i know that the forty year old film was processed by my old place in florida by hand--he had a hard time getting the backing off (that's why there are so many white spots) and said it was a delicate process.

FUNNNNNNN!!!!

a darkroom at work?... nice bonus...

delicate?... (laugh)... i bet it was... but... they got a result... and that is impressive...

i'm surprised to know to you have no formal training... i would have assumed you did... given the sophistication of your work... and the number of formats and cameras that you're familiar with...

hehe :) i'm a university professor, so my "workplace" is very large, and definitely includes a darkroom :) :) :)

thanks for the compliment :) i'm totally self taught and that's why i am always asking people questions about cameras and film--and i'm obsessive so that's why i use so many cameras! :) :) :)
thank you again!!!!

i thought you might be... denton rang a bell...

you are welcome, by the way... the compliment is well deserved... your approach to image-making is great...

hhhhhmmm... now i'm curious... (about what you teach)... the approach to film and cameras screams logic/analysis... so i want to say science of some sort... but... there is something about your approach to subject that seems looser... so i want to say english...

i'm pretty happy with the ancient fuji i just got developed. the lab guy wasn't real happy with it since the tape wouldn't come off the film. i'll have to keep the rest of that pile for my own experimentation at home.

yes, it's gorgeous! i'll be faving :) i just saw them at LJ.
when i had that old 1960s expired film that came with my diana processed, the lab had the same problem. they did get the tape off, but they had to work at it. did he really say you couldn't bring it back?

it is probably all the time he has to spend making peoples bad photos look good. i don't think his mind can wrap around the quest for the decayed photo.
